Dear Loyal Lake Houston Musical Arts Patron,

The Lake Houston Musical Arts Society thanks its audience, supporters, and volunteers for an exciting and successful 2025-26 season. It is because of you that we are able to fulfill our mission to fill a need in our community that allows highly skilled local musicians to perform great classical and jazz works and to educate the next generation of young musicians. It is a thrill for the musicians in both the Kingwood Chorale and Kingwood Jazz Orchestra to perform for you. Through your generosity, we can fund scholarships for aspiring musicians.

We are looking forward to the upcoming 2026-2027 season to once again perform for Lake Houston area audiences.

Kingwood Chorale and Chamber Orchestra 2026-2027 Season Description: "A Season of Collaboration"

The Kingwood Chorale’s upcoming season will be one of unprecedented collaboration between groups all over the region. This will allow our faithful audience to experience some monumental music with an expanded choir and orchestra and will also allow our audiences to experience some of this music in iconic venues outside the Lake Houston area.

Beethoven’s epic 9th Symphony is the first symphony to utilize a choir (in the final movement only) and is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Western civilization. It requires an exceptionally large orchestra and chorus (and vocal soloists). For this performance, the Kingwood Chorale will team up with the Rice University Chorale and Texas Medical Center Orchestra on Saturday, October 24 at 7:00 PM in the prestigious Wortham Theater Center (Cullen Theater).

As a tribute to the 250th anniversary of our nation, our second fall concert is entitled “American Quilt 250: The Musical Fabric of Our Country”. This concert will highlight various types of choral music throughout American history.   It will feature music from the Revolutionary War to the present time, and will include patriotic music, hymn arrangements, Spirituals, theater/movie favorites, as well as selections from the American Songbook. Special guests include soprano Nancy Curtis, trumpeter Todd Olges, and violinist Xia Xia Zhang.  This concert will take place on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, 5520 Kingwood Drive.

In late January, the Kingwood Chorale will join forces with the Houston Youth Symphony and the Rice Chorale to present another epic work.  This time it is Gustav Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony (Symphony #2) at Rice University’s Stude Concert Hall, 6100 Main St, Houston, TX 77005. The concert will take place on Sunday, January 31 at 7:00 PM.

The Kingwood Chorale (with the Chamber Orchestra) will conclude the season with a tribute to Beethoven on the 200th year of his death. For these concerts, we will collaborate with the Texarkana Regional Chorale to present a new edition of Beethoven’s Christ on the Mount of Olives, sung in English. Our combined 120-voice choir will present this dramatic oratorio in a special afternoon concert on Saturday, April 24 at 3:00 PM.  The concert will take place at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, 5629 Kingwood Drive in Kingwood. The concert will be repeated on Saturday, May 1 at 3:00 PM at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 407 Beech St, Texarkana, AR 71854.

Kingwood Jazz Orchestra

The Kingwood Jazz Orchestra will be featuring Rick Condit. Rick is an American saxophonist and jazz educator with a career spanning more than four decades. He has performed and taught in 25 countries, served as a tenor sax soloist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and is a professor of music and director of jazz ensembles at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He has also been recognized as a Fulbright Senior Scholar and Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassador and was inducted into the Texas Jazz Educators Association Hall of Fame in 2024. The performance will take place at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2026, in the Lone Star College-Kingwood Performing Arts Center.

The Kingwood Jazz Orchestra will be featuring Eric Marienthal. Eric is a Grammy-winning saxophonist and Berklee Distinguished Alumnus who has performed worldwide, recorded 15 solo albums, and worked with artists including Chick Corea, Jeff Lorber, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Billy Joel. He also serves as music director for Jazz Cruises programs and runs an online saxophone school at ArtistWorks. This performance will be on Friday, March 19, 2027, at 7:30 pm at the Strawbridge United Methodist Church.

The Kingwood Chorale’s upcoming season will feature unprecedented collaborations with outstanding musical organizations from across the region. These partnerships will allow our loyal audiences to experience monumental masterworks performed by expanded choirs and orchestras while also enjoying performances in several iconic venues beyond the Lake Houston area.

The Kingwood Jazz Orchestra will present another outstanding season featuring world-class guest artists. This 18-piece big band continues to grow in both musicianship and reputation, delivering exciting performances with exceptional repertoire. The fall concert returns to the Lone Star College–Kingwood Performing Arts Center, while the spring concert will feature one of the world’s premier saxophonists.

  • Sunday, January 31, 7:00 PM – Kingwood Chorale at Rice University’s Stude Concert Hall, performing Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection.”
  • Friday, March 19, 2027, 7:30 PM – Kingwood Jazz Orchestra at Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood, featuring internationally renowned saxophonist Eric Marienthal.
  • Saturday, April 24, 3:00 PM – Kingwood Chorale at Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood, performing Beethoven’s Christ on the Mount of Olives.
  • Saturday, May 1, 3:00 PM – A repeat performance of Beethoven’s Christ on the Mount of Olives at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Texarkana, Arkansas.
