About Kingwood Big Band

The Kingwood Big Band was founded in 2004 under the direction of James Stubbs. Their ‘Cool Evening of Hot Jazz,’ ‘Holiday at the Harbor,’ and Concerts were big hits. The Big Band made its European debut, traveling to Italy and Switzerland, where they participated in the International Jazz Festival in Montreux.

Under the direction of Alfredo Velez’ since 2011, the Big Band repertoire includes music by big band luminaries such as Duke Ellington, Harry James, Stan Kenton, Tommy Dorsey and others. In 2016, the band performed at the Texas Bandmasters Association annual convention. They also performed twice at the House of Blues in Houston in 2016.
